Different types of eyeliners and how to differentiate !

How a kohl liner is different from a normal eyeliner pencil:

A kohl liner is intended to be softer, smoother, smudgier and ideally meant for the lower water line .
 Ideal for soft,smudged,sultry smokey eyes

An eyeliner pencil if not specified to be kohl is waxier, harsher and less prone to smudging.
Ideal for upper lash lines or lower when you want a clean ,crisp look.

When to use a gel eyeliner:

A gel eyeliner is more precise , more sharp , more glossy black and long wearing without smudges.Ideal for winged looks or while attempting a feline flick. Best method to ensure a smooth application is to first line the eyes with a pencil and then trace above with a gel eyeliner. Differs from liquid eyeliners in being extremely quick drying, leaving no scope for errors.
Ideal for classy, smooth ,sharp lines for the upper lash line or an intensely long wearing line on the lower.

A liquid eyeliner and its uses:

A liquid eyeliner is very forgiving .You make a mistake and its extremely easy to wipe off with a moisturised cotton tip. It gives you a very precise line but is neither long wearing nor prone to smudging and a  smudged liquid eyeliner is extremely unpolished .Totally unsuitable for the lower lash line.
Ideal for those with adept hands in applying eyeliners on the upper lash line.

A twist up or one that requires sharpening ?

That's a tricky question...but on a wide note,

A twist up pencil is :-          A wooden pencil is :- -Convenient                         -Inconvenient
-Less maintenance                -More maintenance
-Gets blunt too soon             -Can be sharpened                                             to a point.

It really depends on where you intend to use your pencil!!

Until next time,
